EM • 1® is the starting material for all EM products.
EM • 1® is in liquid form and contains various groups of microorganisms, including lactic acid bacteria, yeasts and photosynthetic bacteria. Thanks to the coexistence of the microorganisms in EM • 1® and the metabolites it contains, already existing microorganisms are activated in different environments and conditions where it is added. This is possible in many different areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, environmental and water purification, and health care.
The selection of microbes includes lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, and photosynthetic bacteria. Many of these have traditionally been used in our diet, for example in baking and brewing. 1 teaspoon EM • 1® contains more than 1 trillion microbes. These microorganisms are in a dormant state in EM • 1® and are activated by the addition of water and cane sugar molasses.
EM • 1® is completely free of GMO-altered microbes and contains only carefully selected soil microbes. The preparation is produced in a laboratory environment with high purification requirements.
How it works
EM • 1® is a mixture of beneficial microorganisms. The preparation consists of both aerobic and anaerobic species which initiate an anaerobic fermentation process that utilizes and produces vital nutrients that make soil and soil more fertile. Experiments have shown that EM culture enriches ecosystems with better plant development and harvest outcomes both quantitatively and qualitatively.
EM-1 is used together with A+ Sugar Cane Molasses to create EM-A (activated EM) in an activator.
Directions
Mix 50ml EM1 + 50ml A+ (dissolve in 950 ml lukewarm water). Leave this in an activator for 1 week. Some yeast flakes may form, these belong to EM. EM-A should smell fresh and sour. The pH should be around 3.8.

Very nice !Reviewed by MR on 03 Oct 2024
Bit pricey but glad I can get this in UK! (Normally I buy in Japan) Used for bad smells around drain pipes in our garden. And for plants too.
It's looking good.Reviewed by Andyb on 04 Aug 2024
Looking good so far but too soon to tell for sure if it does a great job for me, but I'm confident it will based on other people's recommendations.
